Charlie was a great man and he was like a father to me. I saw him for a year and he was the first therapist - no, first person - to really understand me. He brought me out of a really dark place and helped me become the person that I am today. He will be missed. I wish I had spoken to him one last time but I wanted to finish a year at university first to show him how far I had come thanks to his help. I am just shocked at the news because he meant so much to me. Charley was very kind, honest and intelligent. He will forever be an influence on my life, and a reminder that there is hope even when you believe that there isn't.

Charley, gentle, patient and wise. You were always a friendly face with a kind word whenever we met. You and Louise were made for each other, and I feel glad for the happiness that you shared. Your mutual love and respect for one another radiated outward. My heartfelt condolences to Lou, Josie and Ella. You will be so missed. X

Charley and I had only worked together for roughly 3-4 months, but in that time, he had become an important figure to me. He became someone I looked up to. To me, he was someone who had "figured it out", and he was only able to do that because he was aware of his limitations, and had worked hard at countering them. I respected him greatly, and had come to care for him, very much looking forward to our sessions, as I believe he did too. I think this was because I knew that no matter how difficult things may get in those sessions, or the time between, his presence, patience, and commitment was allowing me to start "figuring it out". Though I have only scratched the surface, his character, more than his witty and experienced lessons, serve as a constant reminder to continue to understand and be kind to ourselves. He was a great man.
